Health Education is essential to preventing many health issues in children and adults. FIRMC focuses on helping children help themselves through simple and effective health messages.

Examples of health messages for children include basic hygiene lessons such as washing your hands after using the latrine and before eating, using boiled water to wash fruit before eating it, brushing your teeth at least twice a day, and keeping yourself clean through bathing. Our seminars also include explanations as to why children should incorporate these healthy habits into their daily routine.

Each health education message pertains to issues children are facing in the areas FIMRC serves. Most of these communities share similar health concerns for their children ranging from basic needs such as vaccination coverage, hygiene issues, nutrition, diarrheal diseases, safe drinking & cooking water to more complex needs such as puberty, depression, abuse, sexually transmitted diseases and drug and alcohol abuse. In addition, FIMRC works to design health messages for concerns specific to a community or a target audience.

The educational messages are developed using locally sustainable materials for demonstration props and include interactive participant-oriented sessions. All lessons and materials are translated into local languages.

FIMRC chapters are integral to this project. Chapters can select from health topics listed on the national site. Once your chapter selects a topic, you have ownership for the development of the presentation packet consisting of sustainable teaching materials, handouts, samples, and visual aides. Completed presentation materials will be made available for all chapters to access and use worldwide. Development of a comprehensive and effective public health education campaign will require a collaborative effort between local chapters and FIMRC headquarters.

Funding for this project comes from local chapters as well as generous donations from individuals like you. Your donated funds will be used towards the creation and delivery of children’s health messages worldwide.
