FIMRC : Program Donation Information
The program donation rates have been set with much consideration for the many expenses to run a clinic and a volunteer program. The program donation goes toward three things. First and foremost, the vast majority of donation money goes into the projects directly. It is with this money that the clinics are stocked with pharmaceuticals and supplies, the physician, nurse, and local health professionals are compensated, the clinic's utilities and other bills are covered, in addition to covering the many other costs associated with running a clinic. Secondly, a portion of the program donation goes towards volunteer coordination. This includes pre-departure logistical costs, coordinator costs, and the on-site costs of arranging your mission, including field staff visits to doctors’ offices to arrange shadowing, to schools to arrange health education, costs associated with using internet cafés to coordinate your arrival and arrange your schedule, phone time for the many calls that it takes to ensure your properly coordinated mission. Finally, there are administrative costs at the FIMRC office that are covered by a small percentage of donation money which include paperwork, office supplies, etc.
Please see our project pages for site-specific program donation rates. The program donation depends on both length of stay and location.
You may contact us for donation information for stays of over 1 month. Please note that the rates listed are minimum donation amounts.
It is important to note that the program donation does not include housing, food, in-country transportation or airline costs. These arrangements are explained in each program overview, as they differ by location. Each volunteer is responsible for the cost and coordination of their flight arrangements. The cost of airfare depends on your mission destination, season of travel and which day of the week you travel (midweek is usually the least expensive). FIMRC arranges ground transport to and from the airport, housing, some or all meals, and ground transport between the clinic site and housing location.
